The California Highway Patrol responded to a deadly collision at approximately 4:00 a.m. on September 29, 2026, along southbound Highway 99 near Twin Cities Road, as noted by KCRA 3 News.

According to CBS News Sacramento, a southbound passenger car struck a roadway work vehicle. The car subsequently crossed the freeway boundary onto West Stockton Boulevard. An approaching commercial transport vehicle then hit the car, initiating a fire. Authorities pronounced the motorist deceased at the collision site.
