Vacaville Woman Killed in Wrong-Way I-505 Crash Near Putah Creek Road

A 66-year-old Vacaville woman died in a wrong-way crash on Interstate 505 near Putah Creek Road on August 30, 2026. A 45-year-old Vallejo man was arrested on suspicion of felony DUI, according to CHP information reported by NBC Bay Area on August 30.

What CHP reported

The crash occurred around 12:40 a.m. in the southbound lanes. Investigators said a Chevrolet Tahoe driver made a U-turn and traveled against traffic before hitting the woman's Nissan Kicks. She died at the scene. The Tahoe driver sustained minor injuries.

Three other vehicles were damaged by debris. NBC reported that the freeway reopened at approximately 4:20 a.m. that morning. That was a historical closure, not a current travel advisory.

What remains unresolved

The arrest is an allegation, not a conviction. The cited report describes preliminary investigative findings. It does not establish a final court outcome or the resolution of any insurance claim.

Practical steps for an affected family

Keep the incident number, insurer correspondence and any original photographs or video together. A family member handling paperwork can also record who has requested documents and what has already been supplied.

Eligible parties can start with CHP's crash-report request guidance. Ask the agency which records are available and whether the investigation has produced a supplement.

GJEL's overview of how a wrongful death claim works explains the general process. A fatal crash alone does not determine who may bring a claim or what evidence will support it. If your family would like help understanding its options, you can request a free case review with a GJEL wrongful death lawyer.
