Chico Man Dies After Head-On Crash With Truck on Highway 99

A 60-year-old Chico man died after a head-on collision with a truck on Highway 99 north of Broyles Road in unincorporated Butte County on August 31, 2026.

According to KRCR reporter Adam Robinson's August 31 account, CHP said the crash happened at about 3:18 a.m. A northbound Nissan Altima entered the southbound lane and collided with a Kenworth truck driven by a 54-year-old Anderson man.

Fire crews freed the Altima driver from the vehicle. He was taken to Enloe Medical Center, where he died before 5 a.m., the report said.
